Why might Age Line adult day care be
right for you? For too many Americans, getting older means
retreating into a life of solitude. The kids have grown and
moved away; a spouse has died; health problems limit mobility.
At Age Line, we understand all the obstacles the elderly and
disabled face when attempting to engage in their communities.
We also understand that in terms of life expectancy and general
quality of life, it is vitally important that seniors and
those with disabilities make an effort to remain involved.
Why? Simple. On the one hand, there are the
things that we do to live, and on the other, the things that
we live for: companionship, love... cheesecake. It is much
harder to compel individuals to properly maintain their lives
when deprived of the kinds of stimulating relationships they
live for. Getting a hug or shooting a game of billiards with
a friend once a week can be just as important for your health
as gulping down a regimen of pills each morning--and it's
a lot more fun! Getting older or being disabled doesn't mean
that you can't get involved.
You can, and you should!
If
you are older or disabled, Age Line's Adult Activity Center
on Rocky River Drive offers a host of things to do which are
not just fun, but essential to maintaining, and even enhancing
your mental and physical health. After all, if left unemployed,
minds and bodies will atrophy just as surely as a car left
in the rain will rust. With that understanding, we design
all of our adult day care programs to have at their core elements
of physical or mental exercise.
In truth, what we do is more than just adult day care. When
you leave at the end of the day, we want you to know that
your life has been truly enhanced by the time you invested
at Age Line. If you are a senior, we want you to realize that
you're never too old to learn something new; if you suffer
from the likes of muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis,
Alzheimer's, or dementia, we want you to recognize the limited
nature of your disabilites, and the infinite promise of your
abilities. In other words, to an Age Line employee
the term adult day care means a whole lot more than a bowl
of soup and a roof. To us, adult day care signifies no less
than a firm commitment to caregiving, and just as unwilting
a commitment to enhancing the lives of others--from offering
a helping hand to the caregiver whose resources are stretched
thin, but who remains committed to keeping a dependent parent
from a nursing home, to helping out the grandfather who is
afraid of being a burden, but who can't imagine relinquishing
his home or independence, to assisting the disabled woman
long deprived the one-on-one attention necessary to realize
her full potential.
Individuals such as these having been turning to Age Line
for over a decade, and we are grateful and humbled by the
fact that so many in the Cleveland, OH area have chosen us
to be their caregivers, their friends, and their home away
from home.
